Bullying

 

Workplace bullying isn’t a new topic at the workplace environments, it involves all unreasonable activities toward an individual or a group pf an employee that could risk the health and safety of the workers. People are often hesitant to make a complaint because they afraid of the consequences or they experienced unsatisfied result in the past. The victims often have a mental difficulty facing complex problems toward their complaints which causing them to avoid or ignore bullying.  Below are the listed reasons why employees afraid of making a complaint:

-          Fear of the problem remains unsolved.

-          Fear no one taking the concern seriously.

-          Fear of being blame for the issue.

-          Fear of breaking work-relationship or getting a bad reputation.

-          Feeling isolated and object to more hates.

-          Feeling embarrassed by the behaviours.

 

Victimisation uses to describe a person who is treated unfairly and badly at work because they have made a complaint or express their concern toward sexual harassment, racial, discrimination, religious violation or simply helping and encouraging someone from making a complaint. It is possible for people who file complaints to be victimised beyond the original incident, for example an employee being moved to a lower position at work because they are reporting that they have experienced sexual harassment with one of the workmates. There are variety of strategy organisation can help the employee to feel more comfortable of making a complaint and express their concern toward the workplace bullying such as:

Forming regular consultation with WHS representatives to discover any bullying cases.

Implementing workplace bullying procedures and policies.

Providing training, information about workplace bullying and helping resources.

Prioritizing psychological health of employees through workplace consultant.

Setting appropriate workplace behaviour and developing respectful work relationship within the working environment.

To make employees feel more secure and safe to protect their rights and others through equal treatment, the manager can create a healthy working environment through:

Good communication and listening

Show employees that their concerns are matter.

Encourage employees to be themselves and speak out loud.

Show employees the care and respect.
